H1N1 (The Tripel Formerly Known as Swine Flu)

On May 2nd, 2009, in honor of National Homebrew Day (The Big Brew), we reconvened at Admiral Sasquatch to finish the brown ale and bring unto this world a Tripel!

The Brown Ale (hereafter referred to IPtFTIDGB), was finished early in the day. Nate could not make it, Ti showed up injured and stitched, but we still had a great brew day. I feel more like this is my brew, since I did a lot more of the process than I did on the first beer.

There was still some improvising to be done -- we learned just as it was time to steep the grains that the kit did not include a grain bag as it was supposed to. Instead, we used an unused pair of pantyhose that Tisha had on hand. They did their job, and we were well on the way.

We opted to reduce and caramelize a pint of the wort, adding it in later in the boil. Things went very smoothly, and the new wort chiller performed admirably!

An excellent brew day. Pics here. Beer card below.
